German-Portuguese soprano Juliane Stolzenbach Ramos is a versatile and multilingual artist known for her “clean, crystalline voice and excellent vocal line (Ópera Actuál)” , theatrical flair, and international presence.

Juliane’s career as an opera singer and concert/oratorio soloist has taken her across Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Hungary with notable performances at venues such as the Teatro Real Madrid, Opera Bern, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and the Casino Basel.

She has collaborated with world renowned cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras on Bachianas Brasileiras, the Philharmonie Baden-Baden and the SWR Experimentalstudio, performing a variety of works from G. P. Telemann and J. S. Bach to K. Stockhausen and L. Berio, showcasing her affinity for both classical and contemporary music—often drawing on her background as a violinist to interpret complex modern repertoire.

In 2024, she was selected from over 230 applicants across 45 countries as one of only 17 singers to participate in the prestigious SING! Festival, which included performances in China with orchestras such as the Manaus Symphony Orchestra.

In 2023, she reconnected with her passion for musical theatre, becoming a finalist in the Lotte Lenya Competition in Rochester, New York—an experience that inspired her to move to the United States and pursue acting and musical theatre alongside classical singing.

In 2022, she made a striking impression in the world premiere of Georg Friedrich Haas’ Sycorax at Opera Bern in Switzerland, performing the role of Miranda. 
She also reprised her role as Cenicienta in Viardot’s Cendrillon—in a Spanish adaptation—at Opera Oviedo in Spain.

In 2021 she received a special prize at the Tenor Viñas Competition and later that year was selected for the Young Artist Programme “Crescendo” at the Teatro Real Madrid. 
During her time with the program, she performed the principal role Cenicienta (Cinderella) in Pauline Viardot’s Cendrillon at Teatro Real de Madrid, Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, and Teatro Echegaray in Málaga.

Her debut as Carolina in Il matrimonio segreto at the Opera Exam Festival in Budapest in 2020 marked a significant early milestone in her career. She made her professional debut as Ida in Die Fledermaus at the Theater Freiburg in 2018/19, where she had performed Sandmännchen in a co-production between the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg and Theater Freiburg the year prior.

Her accolades include scholarships from Live Music Now (founded by Yehudi Menuhin) and the Festival Internazionale di Musica Portogruaro,Italy as well as an Emerging Talent Award at the Lotte Lenya Competition, NY .

Born into a musical family, Juliane began her musical journey with violin lessons at the age of five. Raised in Germany, she was also active in a local youth circus, trained in Jazz Dance, and participated in numerous theatre and musical productions. Her exceptional musical talent led her to earn second and third prizes at Germany’s “Jugend musiziert” national music competition, which paved the way for her entry into the Academy for Young Talents at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg.

Soon thereafter, she enrolled in the Bachelor of Singing program under Prof. Dorothea Wirtz. During her Master’s studies — which she completed in 2020 — she trained with Prof. Markus Eiche and privately with Natale de Carolis in Italy. Furthermore, she received guidance from Teresa Berganza and Raúl Giménez, and participated in masterclasses with Sabina Puértolas, Anne Le Bozec, and Paula Tukiainen.

She currently studies privately with vocal teacher Candace Goetz in NYC and works with different coaches such as Lydia Brown (Juilliard).

Outside the opera world, Juliane is passionate about acting, martial arts (mainly Muay Thai), and Salsa dancing—or any dancing, wherever and whenever she can. She is fluent in German, English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and conversational in French and Italian .
